Anyways, tomorrow I'll be getting to read at a fundraiser that aims to raise money for the Filipino Typhoon Relief effort. I'm rather excited and nervous; I don't like the way I read my own work sometimes. The only downside is that I have to read along with my least favorite person from my workshop class. Guy's a jackass, with an ego that competes with any other I've ever witnessed. I won't go off on a tangent, but I'll suffice to say that I raged a little bit upon hearing he was attending.
Oh, and I cannot decide what to read! If anyone has a suggestion from my gallery, just say so. It'd make the decision process much easier. Right now my two most probable choices are either my long poem, 'Cold Case' or my new submission, the instructional poem '
Other than that, Saturday a bunch of poets I know are getting together to have a Poetry party, complete with surrealist poetic parlor games. The entire invite was in excellently and hilariously executed alliteration. Great fun is to be had since the group as a whole is comprised of pretty cool people.
My current projects include a Ritual poem in celebration of Day of the Dead, complete with my own 'retablo,' a sort of diorama in honor of a person. I'll take pictures and post them with the companion poem next week
